Who is Jaymie Jamison and Why is she important?

Jaymie Jamison was a beautiful 34 year old mother. She had 3 girls Hope, Lexi, Madison and 1 boy Jet. Jaymie was the glue that held her family together. Jaymie enjoyed watching her children play sports, listening to her daughter sing, and spending as much time with them as possible. Everytime you would see Jaymie she had a contagious smile on her face!

Jaymie, like many women, did not have health insurance. Jaymie was noticing signs that were not right with her body. Like most women, she ignored them. In May 2010 Jaymie finally went to the doctor. She was diagnosed with Stage 2B Cervical Cancer. She immediately had a hysterectomy, and began chemo and radiation shortly after. Unfortunately Jaymie lost her battle to cervical cancer February 6, 2011. 10 months after her initial diagnoses. Jaymie left behind her husband of 14 years Jon, daughters Hope 14, Lexi, 11, Madison 8, and Jet 4.

While Jaymie battled cervical cancer Jaymie's community rallied to support her and her family. They provided dinners, Christmas presents, helped with financial situations, helped care for their children, and was a support system for her emotionally. Jaymie was so greatful and felt she could never pay them back. Jaymie had a vision for this foundation. Jaymie wanted to fight for other women.

The day after Jaymie passed, her oldest daughter Hope had an idea! "Why don't we string panties across the Purple People Bridge for awareness?" And with Hope's big idea Panties Across the Bridge came to life! Panties Across the Bridge is our largest awareness event for gynecological cancer. It took 4,000 panties to cross the bridge, and ironically that is the number of women who will lose their battle to cervical cancer this year.

Awareness is at the center of EVERYTHING we do! Cervical Cancer is the only cancer that has a known cause- HPV- making it entirely preventable! We have branched out from cervical cancer, and are raising awareness for ALL gynecological cancers! Prevention and early detection is key! Along with awareness we are providing support for families battling gynecological cancers. We are supporting research efforts for gynecological cancers. And lastly we are honoring Jaymie's direct wish. Hospice of Hope provided outstanding care for Jaymie in her final days. We are supporting Hospice of Hope.
