3rd Annual Panties Across the Bridge- an event to remember

Yesterday was the 3rd Panties Across the Bridge and an event to go down in the record books. We saw many familiar faces who have supported us since the beginning, we met new people, an people came to us and told us their stories. I want to give you a recap of all the events and some stories that touched our hearts. 

 Friday night as we were hanging the banners on the bridge a lady comes up and asks "what is this for". After describing to her about the event and telling her Jaymie's story tears welled up in her eyes and she says, "my sister has stage 4 cervical cancer". I invited them to the event. But she was in town from Georgia. She did take a card and wants to send panties for next years event. It's amazing who you meet up there on that bridge. 

The celebrity panties were the first to go up. Some may not realize how these autographed panties could help us raise awareness. Many people saw these and asked, "what are these for? Why did they sign them?" Anything to make people realize the importance of gynecological cancer awareness. 

Brandy Shinkle, a survivor hung her picture on the bridge and shared her story how her youngest saved her life. Thank you Brandy for using your story to raise awareness to others. Rhonda Davis hung her daughter Natalie Davis' picture on the bridge. We honored Natalie July 2011 at our first PAB. Natalie lost her life to cervical cancer in November 2011. Rhonda helps us shout from the rooftops  about gynecological cancer awareness. Lexi Jamison hangs her moms (Jaymie Jamison) picture on the bridge. We will continue to fight your fight Jaymie. Other pictures were sent to us and brought during the day to hang on the bridge. 

Seeing these brave faces amongst the panties really helps put in to perspective that gynecological cancer is real and it can effect any of us. No matter our age. As you can see most of these beautiful faces are very young. Know the facts ladies. 

We had women travel from all over to be apart of our event. Christina Klein, a 9 Year ovarian cancer survivor and founder of the Make A Noise for Ovarian Cancer organization came to share her story with friend and co-founder Chrissie Landolfi who lost her mother to ovarian cancer. Chrissie hung a picture of her gorgeous mother on the bridge. Thank you ladies for sharing for your story with us and helping us spread awareness. 

Kelly Pozzoli, who has been battling cervical cancer came from St Louis to help share her story for awareness. Kelly announced her diagnoses on the Jeff Probst Show and has done several follow up episodes with him about her process. Kelly thank you for sharing your story and coming all this way, even though you do not feel 100%. Keep fighting! Kelly also was the fighter who lit the Purple People Bridge teal for the first time ever! 

Meganne Campbell's family (Team Meg) traveled all the way from Cumberland,KY to see Panties Across the Bridge. Meg's mom gave Jaymie's mom a huge hug. She also shared with us how they are spreading awareness. She spreads awareness everywhere to anyone she sees: waitresses, nurses, friends, passer byer's. Thank you for spreading awareness with us Team Meg!!

This survivor has been coming to events for awhile and I had to take a picture of her on the bridge. 

We had panties even sent all the way New Jersey!

We had vendors during the day from noon-6pm. Thank you to all the vendors who participated in our event. 

 As the health and wellness expo wrapped up live music began to take us into the evening. Hope Jamison started us off. 

Followed by Ghost Mountain. 

Jordan Jackson performed. 

Spencer Sutherland came from Columbus, OH. 

Local heart throb Dylan Holland performed. 

After Dylan's performance the lighting ceremony began. First sky lanterns were lit for loved ones. 

Katie, from Q-102 emceed our ceremony. Thank you Katie! Hope sang "Up to the Mountain". Kelly Pozzoli pulled the switch to light the bridge. 

This is the first time the Purple People Bridge has been teal for gynecological cancer awareness! So amazing and thank you so much to Vincent Lighting for making this possible.

Meet Our Fighter

The Jaymie Jamison Foundation has had the opportunity to meet many survivors, fighters, and now Angels. We have met their families. We have developed relationships with them. And hopefully we have helped them in their time of need. We love to honor our fighters. At our 1st Panties Across the Bridge we were able to honor Natalie Davis. At the Whispers of Hope Gala we had the opportunity to honor a local fighter, Donna Dowling. Now at our 3rd Annual Panties Across the Bridge we will honor another fighter, Kelly Pozzoli. 

Kelly is from the St Louis area. Kelly at age 31 was a happily married school teacher when she found out she had cervical cancer. Kelly was told she may not live to see her 33rd birthday. She was diagnosed in December 2011. 

Since her diagnoses Kelly used her instinct and fought hard. Kelly had multiple surgeries leaving her with a complete hysterectomy, without several lymph nodes, bladder and urethra. She went through multiple rounds of chemo and radiation. In May her scans have shown she is cancer FREE!! She lived to see her 33rd birthday!

Kelly was on "The Jeff Probst Show" first episode and she announced her diagnoses on the show. The show has also checked in on her and her battle with cervical cancer. 

Kelly will be at Our Panties Across the Bridge on July 13th. Kelly will share her inspirational story and why it is important to know the signs and symptoms for cervical cancer at 8:00pm (between the performances of Spencer Sutherland and Dylan Holland). At our lighting ceremony which will take place beginning at 9pm Kelly will flip the switch to make the Purple People Bridge teal for the first time!

Celebrity Panties

The Jaymie Jamison Foundation for Hope's largest awareness event is PANTIES ACROSS THE BRIDGE!  This event was created by Jaymie's then 14 year old daughter after losing her 10 month battle with cervical cancer. 

In October 2012 several JJF members got to see Olympic Gold

Medalist and Ovarian Cancer Survivor Shannon Miller speak at at OCAO event. We had her autograph a pair of panties. The idea then came along how many pairs of panties can we get celebrities to sign for gynecological cancer awareness?

So panties were mailed out to several celebrities around the tri-state area... And surrounding areas. We have gotten several back (which may I add we were thrilled to say the least). 

Sheree Paolello decorated and autographed a pair. Sheree is a channel 5 newscaster. Thank you Sheree for your continued support of this organization. 

Rob Dyrdek who is originally from Kettering, OH autographed a pair. Rob is a skateboarder who now lives in LA. Rob has shows on MTV. He first was on Rob & Big. Then Fantasy Factory. And now Ridicelousness. These panties were first sent to Rob's sweet mom (his mom and dad are often seen on Rob's shows and in my opinion the shows they are on are the best). The panties were meant for his parents to sign. His sweet mom took the panties to Rob to sign and sent them back! What a surprise!! And the sweetest lady! Thank you Pat and Rob! 

This last pair are from Leah from MTV's Teen Mom 2. Leah has 2 twin girls who she had while on 16 & Pregnant. She recently had another sweet baby girl with her husband Jeremy. Leah and her family live in West Virginia. Thank you Leah for your autograph!

The Cincinnati Reds Mascots: The Gapper, Rosie Red, Mr Red Legs and the Cleveland Indians Mascot autographed a pair of panties for the bridge. And even posed for a picture holding the autographed undies. 

 

Q-102 decorated a pair of underwear for our event. Thanks again!

We are hoping to have our musicians on July 13 to sign panties as well (Dylan Holland & Spencer Sutherland). Please come see these panties hanging across the Purple People Bridge on July 13 in Cincinnati/Newport!!

Panties Across the Bridge Car Wash

Jaymie Jamison was a 34 year old mother who lost her battle with cervical cancer. Her family and friends are determined to keep fighting Jaymie's battle and let every woman everywhere to be aware of gynecological cancers. This is exactly what Jaymie's sister Stacy is doing. 

Stacy holds an annual car wash at Bapp Heating and Air in Wilmington each year. Her event is called "Panties Across the Bridge Car Wash". At this event Stacy collects panties for the Foundation's largest awareness event, Panties Across the Bridge. She also raises funds to be donated to the Jaymie Jamison Foundation in honor of her sister, Jaymie. 

This year Stacy had Awesome raffle and silent auction items, Vendor booths, a Jaymie Jamison Foundation awareness booth, along with a good ole car wash. 

Stacy advertised for this event for weeks. Because of Stacy's hard work she brought several new volunteers to our organization. They too had been affected by gynecological cancer. They saw Stacy's signs and looked up our organization. Thank you Stacy!

Stacy raised $947.00 for the Jaymie Jamison Foundation for Hope! This is phenomenal!! Thank you again for your hard work and dedication to this organization. 

Panty Party 2013

A panty party is a fun event to have to get all your friends together to decorate panties for gynecological awareness event Panties Across the Bridge. Today Rhonda Davis Johnson held a panty party! 

Rhonda is a big advocate for gynecological cancer awareness. In 2011  Rhonda lost her daughter Natalie to cervical cancer. Rhonda immediately after learning of Natalie's diagnoses began to fight hard to make every woman aware of gynecological cancers. 

Today Rhonda and her family and friends got together to honor Natalie and celebrate her birthday by decorating panties to be hung on the Purple People Bridge on July 13. 2013 at the Panties Across the Bridge. 

Natalie holds a special place in this Foundation. Natalie was the first person this organization was able to help after being diagnosed.
